Testing for Dunlop’s new sport touring motorcyle tire, the RoadSmart III, has been recently completed.

Designed, developed and manufactured at the company’s European Innovation Center in Luxembourg, the RoadSmart III has been signed off for production after the most intensive and rigorous test program in Dunlop Europe’s history. Dunlop Europe’s engineers completed 31 months of testing and development including 1,200,000km of evaluation.

Andy Marfleet, marketing manager, Dunlop Europe Moto, said, “To achieve our goal, which was to have an outstanding tire in its category for European road riders, we evaluated over 200 different compound and construction options. Our intensive test program focused on new materials, tread concepts and advanced compound development to get to the final tire specification.”

The tread features a wear resistant compound and unique iGT (interconnecting groove tread) technology. “The iGT technology is designed to give enhanced wet performance, a very important feature for Europe’s road riders. The innovative tread design also provides improved durability and even wear throughout the life of the tire. These technologies achieve our goal of providing tire performance that is stronger for longer. This has now been signed off for production and we will reveal more technical information in early 2016,” said Marfleet.
