Brad Wurst, a technical consultant at Smithers Rapra, will deliver a webinar on radial tire components on Wednesday, May 8. The webinar, titled ‘Tire Components 101: A Comprehensive Overview of the Building Blocks of a Radial Tire’, will take place at 11:00am and will last roughly an hour.

This free webinar will deliver a functional overview of the sophisticated technologies found within a tire. Wurst will explain the role of a tire’s important components and how they’re engineered to operate together.

“A single tire is made up of six major components and 50 or more different raw materials,” noted Wurst. “I want our attendees to walk away with a stronger understanding of the complexity and sophistication of tire construction and design.”

Tire importers and distributors, purchasing managers, insurance companies, raw materials suppliers, and anyone who is new to the tire industry is invited to join the webinar.

“The tire is one of the most highly engineered products on the market today. For those who don’t work in tire engineering on a daily basis, this overview will be exceptionally helpful to explain a lot of the design interdependencies,” said Dr Jim Popio, VP of operations, North America, Smithers Rapra.

“Brad has years of valuable experience in the tire industry and has a lot of expertise to share with anyone who attends the webinar.”

Wurst has 28 years of experience in tire design, construction modification, cost optimization, and component development. He has worked for major tire manufacturers both domestically and internationally before he joined the technical consulting team at Smithers in 2018.
