Continental has been re-elected as co-chair of the Tire Industry Project (TIP) until 2029. Continental will continue to contribute resources and expertise, especially in the areas of tire and road wear particles, end-of-life tires, sustainability assessment methods and supply chain transparency.
TIP is the global tire industry’s central forum for sustainability issues. As one of the founding members of TIP, Continental has been working with other leading global tire manufacturers since 2005 to address overarching environmental and sustainability issues affecting the tire industry.
“We are honored to have been re-elected as co-chair. TIP fosters collaboration within the tire industry, and beyond, with academia and other partners. Founded 20 years ago, TIP brings together the largest tire makers to tackle complex overarching sustainability challenges – such as advancing scientific understanding of tire wear emissions,” said Christian Kötz, head of Continental Tires and member of the executive board of Continental.
“Continental takes its sustainability responsibilities seriously. This includes our active involvement in industry-wide associations. TIP is ideally suited to reinforce Continental’s ambitious sustainability agenda.”
“Continental has been committed to TIP since its foundation 20 years ago,” said Dr Larisa Kryachkova, executive director of the Tire Industry Project. “Its re-election as co-chair is a testament to Continental’s strong expertise and spirit of cooperation. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Continental. As co-chair companies, Continental together with Bridgestone, Goodyear and Michelin will actively shape the strategic direction of the Tire Industry Project.”
Under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), TIP brings together the 10 leading tire companies, which jointly represent more than 60% of global tire production capacity.
