Japanese manufacturer Yokohama Tire has announced the release of its 124R and 505C commercial truck tires in the USA. Both tires have been designed for use in all seasons and on all positions of commercial vehicles.

Available in nine sizes ranging from 17.5in to 22.5in, the 124R tire is designed for regional pickup and delivery fleets and features deep sipes to enable braking on wet and snow-covered roads, while four wavy circumferential grooves provide extra traction and promote even wear.

Additionally, an extra-wide tread better disperses contact pressure with the road to extend the tire’s service life; rock shield platforms provide improved casing life, durability and retreadability; and rigid shoulder ribs provide stability.

“The 124R is built for lasting value. It delivers fleets a boost to their bottom line with longer original tread life and year-round performance,” commented Tom Clauer, Yokohama’s senior manager of commercial product planning. “Plus, the 124R carries a six-year unlimited retread casing warranty on all 17.5in and 19.5in sizes and a seven-year warranty on all 22.5in sizes.”

Being introduced along with the 124R is the 505C, designed for trucks operating on and off the highway. Developed as a replacement for the MY507A, the 505C benefits from a newly designed tread pattern to increase traction and an anti-chip tread compound to ensure the tire remains durable both on and off the highway. A high-strength belt construction increases durability.

Wide blocks and ribs provide traction in mud and snow, and wide circumferential grooves aid in water evacuation for improved braking characteristics. Wavy lateral grooves enable additional wet traction. Finally, funnel-shaped step grooves prevent road debris from reaching the bottom of the groove which could result in damage to the casing.

“More traction, more uptime. That’s what the 505C is all about – it’s built to last,” explained Clauer. “It provides fleets the longevity and durability needed to lift their profit margins.”

The 505C is offered in three sizes: 385/65R/22.5, 425/65R/22.5 and 445/65R/22.5.
