Tire maker Falken has launched the Azenis FK520 for performance vehicles and SUVs.

The company has drawn upon its motorsport experience and used a combination of advanced materials and simulation technology to give the UHP tire safe and sporty handling characteristics.

The Azenis FK520’s structure is reinforced with aramid to deliver higher levels of stability and precise steering. Falken utilized the latest construction techniques to reduce the tire’s weight by 10% compared with its previous iteration, with fuel efficiency improved due to a lower rolling resistance.

To ensure the UHP tire could perform in wet and dry road scenarios, engineers developed a new Diamond Cut tread by using 4D nano-simulation technology in Japan to further develop the tread edges and integrated noise reduction elements. Small indentations on the tire’s surface cause small turbulences and reduce road noise normally associated with UHP tires, and an optimized road contact area provides even wear and improves surface contact.

“The Falken Azenis FK520 offers grip, reliability, performance and efficiency in a UHP tire,” commented Andreas Giese, senior manager, corporate planning and product planning, Falken Tyre Europe. “Here at Falken, we combined all our experience in material development and simulation technology to create outstanding, high-performance premium tires.”

Available from spring 2022, the Azenis FK520 range will come in 81 sizes, from 17in to 21in.
