SRI takes Smart Tyre Concept to next level with tire air pressure control solution

LinkedIn +

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Tripod Works and Sysgration are to develop an air pressure control solution with direct TPMS and other solution systems using various tire data from other digital tools. This alliance is the next step for SRI in advancing its Smart Tyre Concept.

The two will begin by introducing a tire pressure control solution and gradually expand the technology to incorporate additional functions and/or other third party services.

Due to the evolution of the MaaS (Mobility as a Service) concept, ridesharing has become more popular. SRI expects that as a result of this, and as a result of autonomous driving and platooning, tire and vehicle services, such as predictive maintenance, to be important.

More on SRI’s tire sensing technology in the Tire Technology Annual Review 2018.
