American tire brand General Tire has launched an all-season SUV and 4×4 tire that combines safe summer and winter driving with off-road capability.
The Grabber Cross A/S is designed to offer good handling on asphalt, protection against aquaplaning, safe driving in warm and cold seasons, high mileage and good traction off-road.
High traction and comfort on all surfaces
For dry-road use, the tire design includes support elements between tread blocks to increase stiffness and improve stability. This helps ensure even pressure distribution, supporting precise steering and safe high-speed driving without compromising mileage. The design also contributes to driving comfort, low rolling noise, and long tread life.
Hexagonal tread blocks with biting edges improve traction on loose surfaces, and chamfered groove edges enhance off-road performance. The Grabber Cross A/S also uses a cut- and chip-resistant crossover compound to increase durability on rough terrain. Transverse and longitudinal sipes provide grip in wet and snowy conditions, and an open shoulder design helps evacuate water efficiently to reduce the risk of aquaplaning.
“The Grabber Cross A/S is General Tire’s entry into a new product segment. The tire is designed for high speeds on fast roads, but also offers excellent off-road performance in challenging terrain,” said Matthias Bartz, General Tire’s business development manager EMEA. “With our extensive size portfolio, we can offer tires for about 85% of the most popular crossover SUVs.
The Grabber Cross A/S bears the M+S marking and also the snowflake symbol, which has been mandatory in Germany and France since 2024. It is available in 44 sizes between 16 and 22in and is approved for speeds up to 240km/h depending on the size.
The tire is suitable for a wide range of vehicles with and without four-wheel drive, including popular SUVs and EVs.
