Hankook appoints Soo-Il Lee as president and CEO

Hankook has named 55-year old Soo-Il Lee as the new president and CEO, effective as of January 2018.

He brings with him a wealth of experience from various positions within the company. This includes his roles as MD of Hankook France (2001-2003); director of global marketing from 2006; COO of Hankook Tire America (2009-2012) and China (2013-2016); as well as chief of marketing and corporate management (appointed earlier this year) at the company’s global headquarters.

CEO and vice chairman Seung-Hwa Suh (69), who has served in the position since 2007 and has led the company’s growth over the last 10 years, will retire and continue as a counsel to Hankook Tire’s management.

Meanwhile the company has been undertaking a restructuring of the organization to improve its speed and versatility in responding to the market’s needs.
