The UX Green passenger car tire produced by India manufacturer JK Tyre & Industries is stated to contain up to 80% sustainable, recycled and renewable materials while continuing to deliver a performance level similar to that of a standard tire. The sustainable tire also has a lower carbon footprint.
Drawing on 10 years of research, the development of the UX Green was carried out at the Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence – JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre in Karnataka, India. This facility is used to develop alternative solutions to replace petroleum-based materials with sustainable materials.
During product development, the team used recycled, renewable and bio-based materials, including natural rubber, bio-attributed SBR and BR, bio-based oil, recycled rubber powder, recovered carbonaceous black, recycled polyester and steel wire. Many of the materials used within the UX Green are International Sustainability & Carbon Certification certified.
Once a prototype was produced, the team conducted extensive testing of the product in indoor and outdoor environments to validate its performance.

“This development is not only a reflection of our highly skilled R&D team, but it also reinforces our serious commitment to advancing sustainable growth and boosting societal value creation, moving toward carbon neutrality by 2050. The range of such tires will be offered in due course.”
