GRI has introduced an eco-friendly version of its Ultimate XT solid tire by replacing petroleum-based oil with natural oil, which is carbon neutral and renewable. This latest tire version was developed in collaboration with a team of scientists at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka.
The Premium Plus Ultimate XT is made from Sri Lankan rubber and features a tread design that delivers low rolling resistance and a high run time, thus ensuring longer tire life and conservation of energy.
Test results have indicated that replacement of petroleum oil with the special, environmentally friendly oil is a suitable alternative as the tires still deliver the same performance levels.
“All strategic and tactical decisions made by GRI are weighed against their impact on the environment. GRI’s policy is to drive sustainability along with developing premium specialty tires. A key goal at GRI is to contribute to creating a more sustainable world, and by doing so, GRI takes into consideration the well-being of not only the current global community but also the generations to come,” said Mahesha Ranasoma, CEO of GRI.
As an all-terrain tire, the Premium Plus Ultimate XT can run on all surface conditions including indoor, outdoor, low temperature, high temperature, and wet and dry conditions.

In line with its green policies, GRI has installed a solar panel power system that covers the entire roof of its plant in Sri Lanka, as well as biomass boilers and fully recyclable waste and water management systems.
