Francesco Gori – former CEO at Pirelli from 2006-2012 – has been appointed as advisor for strategy at Apollo Tyres. In this role he will support the company in its goal of international growth and identification and the development of new markets.

“As a successful organization, Apollo Tyres is accelerating its growth by strengthening its presence in its existing markets and extracting value from its recent €475m (US$520m) greenfield investment in Europe to enhance its key global brands,” Gori (left) said. “I look forward to working with Neeraj [Kanwar, vice chairman and managing director, Apollo Tyres] and his team.”

Meanwhile, two new Apollo Zones have been opened in Amman, Jordan, in association with The Ideal for Import and Export, one of Jordan’s oldest wholesalers and retailers of tires.

Satish Sharma, president, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa at Apollo Tyres, said, “The growing passenger vehicle segment in Jordan, along with the entire Middle East region, offers a lot of potential. Our 13 year old partnership with The Ideal for Import and Export has enabled us to secure a strong customer acknowledgement for our products. We aim to have a larger mind space with the customers in the 100,000 a month tire market in Jordan.”
