FermRFID and Camso have announced a multi-year partnership to commercialize their patent-pending RFID solution for solid tires, called the plug.

The solution, which has been in development and testing for two years, can identify tires and track them throughout the entire supply chain from manufacturing, vulcanization, warehousing, shipping and at customer locations.

George Hoffman, CEO and chairman of the board at FineLine Technologies, said, “The ability to use integrated RFID solutions in the tire manufacturing process enables visibility and transparency throughout a tire’s lifecycle and opens the gateway to Industry 4.0 development and the Internet of Things ecosystem.

“In addition, this RFID solution creates the opportunity for tire manufacturers to explore potential new business models with their customers.”

Erick Bellefleur, VP and general manager for materials handling at Camso, added, “As a leader in solid tire manufacturing, we are committed to developing solutions that bring added value to our customers and improve their operations.

“The monitoring of tire usage throughout the entire lifecycle, in the application, offers new avenues to better understand and lower fleet operating costs.”

Camso also has plans to also establish a multi-year partnership to commercialize the plug-in mass production, as well as other RFID solutions currently in development.
