Michelin has unveiled the new X Multi Z2 and D2 R 19.5 tire range for steer and drive axles. The new tires have been designed specifically for frequent use by commercial vehicles under 19 metric tons on short or mid-distance-routes.
“With these new truck tires, Michelin is demonstrating its innovative strength,” said Andrew French, Michelin’s B2B sales director – UK/ROI. “Thanks to their high mileage, low rolling resistance and additional performance reserves, we are not only helping our customers to reduce their operating costs, but also paving the way for modern, sustainability-oriented mobility.”

The X Multi Z2 and D2 19.5 are typified by a number of features that ensure cost control and optimized safety.
They offer up to 30% more mileage on the steer axle and 15% more mileage on the drive axle compared to the previous generation, for less frequent replacements and lower fleet operating costs.
The tires have also been designed to offer high levels of long-lasting braking performance – an internal test performed under the supervision of DEKRA in June 2025 showed that when worn down to 3.5mm of rubber, the tires achieved wet braking distances up to 8m shorter than their competitors (41.36m versus 49.29m).
The 3PMSF marking promises consistent year-round performance for safety and easy handling in any weather and road conditions.
Michelin’s Duracoil technology (a high-quality nylon reinforcement on the bead wire) ensures a more robust, longer-lasting casing to limit unplanned downtime and maintain tire performance throughout its lifespan. This reinforcement improves casing strength and retreadability.
The tire has a fuel efficiency class C rating, higher mileage and retreadability. Furthermore, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to one metric ton per year and truck compared to the previous model.
In addition, with higher load indices in 245/70R19.5 and 285/70R19.5, the tires are designed for the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, and have been specified to bear the extra weight of batteries and meet the specific needs of electric trucks.
