India’s first precision tire buffing and grinding machine has been inaugurated by JK Tyre at NATRAX – a leading automotive testing and certification center in Pithampur, India. The tire maker that the machine will mark a significant milestone in advancing tire safety through performance evaluation of worn tires in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr Raghupati Singhania, chairman and managing director of JK Tyre, along with Dr Manish Jaiswal, director of NATRAX, and a host of other senior dignitaries.
The machine is complaint with ECE R117 regulation which assesses vehicle safety by measuring wet braking performance of tires worn close to the legal tread depth limit of 1.6mm. This will enable comprehensive safety validation across all vehicle segments.
“With the inauguration of the precision tyre buffing and grinding machine (wet grip on worn tire) at NATRAX, JK Tyre has taken yet another step forward in advancing tire testing and safety innovation in India,” said Dr Singhania.
“It reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation, technology leadership and enhancing vehicular safety through modern engineering and contribution to build world-class testing infrastructure.”
In addition to its newly expanded testing infrastructure at NATRAX, JK Tyre already has two workshops, a skilled team and state-of-the-art equipment such as a skid trailer, steering robot and noise measurement systems, supported by a fleet of test vehicles.
