Giti develops bespoke tire for British Truck Racing Championship

Giti Tire has developed a bespoke tire for the 2018 British Truck Racing Championship, and is sponsoring Team Oliver Racing.

The Giti Race-Tuned v1, which is available to purchase by any team in the 2018 Championship, is sized at 315/70 R22.5. The tire’s tread has been specially designed so that pressure distribution across the footprint is even, in order to improve cornering and braking performance.

Other design features include unique outside and inside shoulders, two longitudinal grooves and advanced sipe shapes, orientation and distribution. The racing compound incorporates a special polymer that helps to provide better grip; a distinct functional resin for good handling; and optimized carbon black/silica blending for increased tear resistance.

Tony McHugh, TBR sales and marketing director UK at Giti Tire, said, “It was no exaggeration to state that we were extremely excited by our seventh application, and it is easy to see why. The launch of the partnership with Team Oliver Racing and the introduction of the Giti Race-Tuned v1 into European competition will take the business and our credibility to a whole new dimension, not just in terms of the R&D learnings but proving our tire-build credentials to a massive audience.”
