Nokian to add extra shifts at its Nokia factory

Production capacity for passenger car tires at Nokian Tyre’s Nokia factory is to be increased by around 30%. To achieve this more shifts will be added, so instead of three a day, five days a week, it will run four a day, six days a week. To add the extra shifts, the tire maker needs 80 new members of staff. Recruiting has already begun and it is thought that some will start from September and the majority toward the end of the year. It is expected that the new shifts will come online at the beginning of 2019.

“Our growth strategy requires increased production. Nokian Tyres has experienced strong growth, and our goal is to continue on this path by doubling the size of our North American business and growing in central Europe by 50% over the next five years. At the same time we want to ensure our continuous market leadership in the Nordic countries and Russia,” said Hille Korhonen, president and CEO of Nokian Tyres.
