4Jet Technologies develops fully connected concept tire

LinkedIn +

4Jet Technologies has developed a concept for a fully connected tire featuring enhanced RFID connectivity as well as machine readable sidewall markings.

The revolutionary patent-pending process developed by the company, which matches the RFID wavelength and the transponder’s mounting position, makes use of the tire’s intrinsic shielding capability and enables highly directional RFID signals and, as a result, improved single tire identification.

The 4Jet concept also features a laser-etched machine-readable 2D code that creates a unique, false-proof and permanent engraving in the sidewall which can be read with conventional smartphones or existing 2D readers.

For tire marking – where codes are engraved on a black low contrast surface – 4Jet now offers a mature process to create legible markings that can be identified using on-the-fly readers in tire and automotive plants, as well as 4Jet’s Scannect mobile phone app that is available as a white label solution. The solution provides full traceability for automotive tire mounting at very reasonable cost and is scheduled for introduction by leading OEs.
