Sumitomo Rubber Industries has won a lawsuit against Italian manufacturer TEK Automotive concerning the infringement of its patents on emergency tire puncture repair kit technology.

SRI initially filed the lawsuit in the District Court of Mannheim, Germany, in October 2010, claiming the unauthorized use of its patented technology in emergency tire puncture repair kits manufactured by TEK Automotive.

The German courts ruled in SRI’s favor with regard to the infringement of both patents in March 2015 and May 2017, respectively. SRI says that the technology, which is patented in the USA, Germany, the UK, France, Italy and South Africa, has been highly praised worldwide.

The tire maker has endeavored to continue to actively develop cutting-edge new technologies while working aggressively to ensure the integrity of its intellectual property.
