Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has announced that it will change the names of seven subsidiaries in Europe, North America, Australia and the Pacific region, including Falken Tyres. The decision was approved during an SRI board of directors meeting on November 27, 2025. After registration in the commercial register, Falken is expected to adopt its new name, Dunlop Tyre Europe, in January 2026.
In January 2025, SRI acquired the trademark rights to Dunlop for passenger car tires in Europe, North America and Oceania. This acquisition will enable the company to operate its tire business worldwide under the Dunlop brand, with certain regional and product exceptions. As part of its long-term R.I.S.E. 2035 corporate strategy, which was presented in March 2025, SRI announced that the Dunlop brand will be placed at the center of its future business activities.
While Dunlop will take the leading position as SRI’s premium brand, Falken will remain an important part of the company’s portfolio, positioned in the mid-price segment. An additional budget brand is planned for introduction at a later date.
