Vredestein has responded to the increasing demand for classic car tires by expanding its portfolio with a new line-up badged Sprint+.
Specially designed for the legendary Audi Ur Quattro, Vredestein’s first classic car tire will be launched in September 2018. Development work was assisted by F1 champion and Vredestein ambassador Jochen Mass.
“The appreciation for cars from the 1970s, 80s and 90s – so-called youngtimers – is growing. These vehicles are becoming classic cars. Unfortunately, manufacturers have stopped producing original tires for them. Owners are therefore forced to fit modern tires on their youngtimers, which are not aesthetically pleasing,” said Mass.
“Vredestein believes that its quality products with a retro look developed specially for youngtimers, are a solid choice. The value of youngtimers is growing and fitting them with retro tires that match their era of origin will help preserve the magic of these cars.
“Vredestein’s youngtimer tires have a special tread and an elegant sidewall design, and are manufacturing according to the latest production methods and strictest quality requirements. Drivers can benefit from the high level of grip combined with a retro look.”
The first Sprint+ model designed for the Audi Ur Quattro will be in size 215/50 R15 (price to be announced) – a size that has been unavailable for a long time.
Michele Sala, product manager for passenger vehicle tires at Apollo Vredestein, said, “By the end of the first half of 2019, we expect to have approximately 10 different tire sizes for youngtimers. Vredestein maintains regular contact with the major tire dealers and historic car clubs to explore demand for various sizes of the youngtimer tires.
“Tires for popular car brands including Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Alfa Romeo are among those being considered.”
