Yokohama Tire has released the 116R premium regional all-position steer tire, made in the USA at its Mississippi plant. The tire is available in three sizes, 11R22.5, 295/75R22.5 and 11R24.5, with a seven-year unlimited retread casing warranty.
“The 116R has fleets covered,” said Tom Clauer, Yokohama‘s senior manager of commercial product planning at Yokohama. “It’s engineered to bring long tread life and durability to regional fleet operations and superior fuel efficiency for super regional activity.”
Yokohama says the tire’s durable construction is achieved through solid shoulder ribs that resist tearing and provide uniform surface pressure to defend against irregular wear.
Its long-lasting tread life is enabled by the multi-siped rib edges that relieve pressure on the ribs to help fight river wear, with deep siping to provide long-lasting traction.
High center ribs and advanced compounds produce low rolling resistance, which supports fuel efficiency. The 116R exceeds GHG Phase II MY2027 verification standards.
In related news, Giti Tire recently launched the GSR237 Evo and the GDR675 Evo, the first in a series of new truck and bus tires to carry the ‘Evo’ name – which signifies energy saving solutions through vastly improved rolling resistance coefficients (RRC). Click here to read the full story.
