Michelin North America has launched the Michelin X Mine D2 Extra Load L5 – an improved version of the manufacturer’s most successful mining tire.
Released in size 35/65R33, Michelin’s latest tire has been developed for use in quarry and mining applications and is designed with durability in mind. It benefits from a *** load rating for increased carrying capacity.
Newly developed plies within the tire’s sidewall ensure the Michelin X Mine D2 Extra Load tire is protected from damaging attacks or punctures that can occur within harsh, demanding environments, shortening the tire’s lifespan. Heavier cables have been used in the crown to deliver aggression resistance and enable sites using the tire to maximize service life.
The tire is available for order in North America, with deliveries scheduled to start in August 2022.
“Michelin is extremely proud of this tire because of the increased benefit it offers our customers,” said Sarah Robinson, segment manager of mining for Michelin North America. “The new X Mine D2 Extra Load tire improves on the well-regarded and trusted X Mine D2 tire, as it increases the load capacity by 16%, from 28,000kg to 32,500kg.
“A new bead design enhances the strength of the bead zone. Combined with stronger cables for a more robust architecture, the Michelin X Mine D2 Extra Load tire increases both efficiency and yield in mining operations for our customers, allowing for more material to be extracted in the same amount of time previously necessary.”
