Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has signed an agreement to participate in the Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative (SNR-i), which was established by the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG).

The SNR-i aims to establish a sustainable global natural rubber economy which balances economic, environmental and societal needs throughout the entire supply chain, from production to consumption.

It focuses on guidelines for the following five aspects of the natural rubber supply chain while promoting continuous improvement among participating companies: supporting improvements of productivity; improving the quality of natural rubber; supporting forest and woodland sustainability; water usage management; and respecting basic human rights and labor rights.

As part of this, SRI is also now working to implement an improved natural rubber procurement system.
