Nokian Heavy Tyres has announced new sizes in its E-Truck and R-Truck tire portfolio. The E-Truck products are designed to deliver reliable, economical kilometers on medium and regional haul vehicles, while the R-Truck Trailer tire has been developed for on and off-road use.

Nokian felt it was important to produce a steer axle tire that was reliable in a range of weather conditions including slush and snow. The E-Truck (above) tire series was designed for these environments and benefits from good mileage and the 3PMSF marking. The product will now be available in a size 385/55R22.5.

“Medium and regional haul in typical European conditions sets its own demands for tires,” commented Teppo Siltanen, product manager Nokian Tyres. “The Nokian E-Truck tire family is meant to be an economical all-weather answer to those demands. The new tire offers the same stability and excellent mileage the whole E-Truck family is known for. The fuel economy is [also]improved and heat build-up reduced further with the tire’s very low rolling resistance.”

The R-Truck (below) tire portfolio has also expanded. With on and off-road transports encountering a multitude of road surfaces, Nokian designed the R-Truck tire to work in all conditions.

“In off-road use, the safe grip is ensured with the good self-cleaning properties of the open tread pattern,” explained Siltanen. “Safety and economy are further improved with cut and crack resistant rubber compound with low heat build-up. The Nokian R-Truck tire series is equally at home on the road and on a worksite, with features to enable long and trouble-free service life.”

The latest R-Truck trailer tire will be available in size 285/70R19.5 and has been developed to handle heavy loads.

“Timber transport is a perfect application for the new product,” continued Siltanen. “It combines heavy trailers with journeys on forest roads and forestry sites.”

Both the Nokian E-Truck Steer 385/55R22.5 and R-Truck Trailer 285/70R19.5 have been available since September 2021.
