Falken Tyre has combined its latest technologies to develop a new tire – the AS220 –suitable for gasoline, diesel, battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles. The tire features Vario Core technology, which unites Falken’s newest innovations in a single concept. They include developments in lightweight construction, tread design, materials technology and aerodynamics.
At the heart of the AS220 is a chaotic array tread pattern engineered to inspire confidence in changing conditions. Hydro grooves evacuate water effectively, reducing the risk of aquaplaning and offering greater stability and shorter stopping distances in wet weather. In snowy conditions, snow compaction grooves trap snow between the tread blocks to create extra biting edges, helping the tire generate grip where it is needed most. A chamfered block design has been designed to improve handling by distributing forces more evenly across the tread surface for predictable braking and control, even during demanding maneuvers.
Falken says the sidewall of the AS220 has been carefully profiled for aerodynamic efficiency, contributing to stability at speed while lending the tire a clean, contemporary appearance. The temperature-stabilized compound is designed to deliver performance that remains consistent in summer heat and winter cold. The Euroall Season AS220 is available in 65 sizes, from 15 to 20in. EU Tyre Label Class performance categorizes the tire B-C for rolling resistance, B for wet grip and A-B for rolling noise with a decibel reading of 69-71dB, depending on size.
