Linglong Tire is advancing its internationalization strategy with the establishment of Linglong Tire Egypt, which will oversee the Shandong Linglong Tyre Overseas (Egypt) Investment and Construction Project. The company’s registration is currently subject to approval by local authorities, which are reviewing the outstanding registration certificate.
The move is intended to strengthen Linglong Tire’s international presence and support its expansion across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while better serving regional customers.
The estimated total investment is US$270m. The project will see the construction of a production facility in Borg El Arab, 45km south of Alexandria on a total area of approximately 251,460m². Construction is expected to take two years.
As well as the factory, the project will also include the construction of civil buildings, infrastructure work, greening and related support work. After completion, a total of approximately six million car tires per year will be manufactured at the site, with expected sales of approximately US$175m and a projected net profit of approximately US$35m.
The investment is intended to meet demand in Egypt and Linglong Tire’s wider European, Middle Eastern and African markets. The company said Egypt’s growing automotive industry and strategic location near the Suez Canal, as well as its ports and logistics infrastructure, could help reduce logistics costs and optimize supply chains.
The planned facility will complement Linglong Tire’s existing production network in China, Thailand and Europe, with the company expecting additional synergies once the Egyptian factory is completed. The project will also strengthen Linglong’s regional presence and support its wider internationalization strategy, including smart manufacturing, R&D, sustainable production and advanced services.
The investment is currently still subject to approvals and reviews by the relevant authorities of the People’s Republic of China as well as by the relevant Egyptian authorities. As these procedures have not yet been completed, the project may be modified, delayed or even discontinued if the necessary permits or documents are not obtained in a timely manner, the tire maker said.
