Chinese steel reinforcement specialist Xingda has opened its first overseas manufacturing plant in Chonburi, Thailand. With an annual capacity of 100,000 tons, the facility will enable fast and flexible delivery of high-quality steel cord products to tire makers in Thailand, as well as globally.

Said Liu Xiang, general manager of Xingda, “This is a new start for Xingda. Xingda Steel Cord Thailand is integral to our strategy of globalization and proves our commitment to better serving our valued customers in the global steel cord market.

“Our overseas business has grown strongly in recent years, and now the Xingda Thailand plant will enable us to be even more competitive and bring us enormous growth opportunities in the global market.”

With the latest-generation manufacturing facilities and state-of-art process technologies, the Xingda Thailand plant will serve as a benchmark for Xingda’s steel cord manufacturing. As the first overseas steel cord manufacturing plant owned and operated by the company, automation and intelligence are said to be the two most important features of the plant.

“The Thailand plant is our first outside of China, but definitely not the last. It will enable us to gain a tremendous amount of experience of running a factory in another country, and this will pave the way for our further global expansion,” said Liu Jinlan, chairman of Xingda.
