In accordance with its mid-term business plan, Bridgestone has announced it will consolidate the manufacturing of truck and bus radial tires in China.

The company will cease truck and bus tire production at its Huizhou factory, which currently has 518 employees and produces approximately 2,800 tires per day. The facility is scheduled to close before the end of December.

In future, all truck and bus radial tire production operations will be carried out at Bridgestone’s Shenyang factory as the company seeks to rebuild its earning power and enhance strategic growth investments. The initiative aims to optimize Bridgestone’s tire manufacturing in China while helping the company adapt to the changing business environment.

Bridgestone states that it will follow local laws, regulations and labor agreements, and will take further action to minimize the impact of the closure on employees and the local community. The company predicts that the effect on its consolidated financial results for 2021 will be minor.
