Hankook is now supplying ultra-high-performance (UHP) tires as original equipment for the new Porsche Macan. This is the first time a Porsche model is being factory fitted with Hankook’s UHP tires.

The pattern being used is the Ventus S1 evo2 SUV, which was introduced in 2014. These will be fitted in either 18 or 19in diameter in sizes 235/60 R18 (front) and 255/55 R18 (rear) or 235/55 R19 (front) and 255/50 R19 (rear).

“We are excited that Porsche, another German premium automobile manufacturer, shows their confidence in our products as original equipment”, said Ho-Youl Pae, executive vice president and CEO, Hankook Tire Europe.

“With the new Ventus S1 evo2 SUV we have developed an ultra-high-performance tire that optimally supports the character of sporty and dynamic vehicles like the new Porsche Macan,” added Klaus Krause, technical director of the Hankook European Technical Centre in Hanover, Germany.

The Ventus S1 evo2 SUV has a multiple tread radius and double-layer rayon carcass, which provides a maximum tread contact area under all conditions. It also improves hydroplaning behavior with optimum road contact for balance in both wet and dry conditions. A DTM-inspired three-layer block design provides an improved contact area over the predecessor, as tire wear progresses.
