Apollo Tyres and RRI awarded patent for special grade ENR

Apollo Tyres and the Rubber Research Institute of India (RRI) have developed a special grade of epoxide natural rubber (ENR), which has been awarded a patent by the Government of India.

The ENR can be used as a substitute for S-SBR – widely applied in high-performance passenger car treads – which is not only expensive, but is also not environmentally friendly.

Daniele Lorenzetti, CTO at Apollo Tyres, said, “As a company, Apollo Tyres has always been proactive in its approach toward technology, sustainability and other environmental issues. This innovation is a result of our commitment to replace synthetic materials with green and more environmentally friendly naturally occurring materials.

“I would like to congratulate the entire team involved in this, including the scientists from the Rubber Research Institute of India, for this invention.”
