BMW M chooses Pirelli P Zero Elect for electric i4 M50

LinkedIn +

The first fully electric vehicle developed by BMW’s M Division, the BMW i4 M50 coupe, will use Pirelli P Zero Elect tires for factory original equipment.

The i4 M50 has a peak power output of 400kW produced by two engines which drive all four of its wheels. Pirelli developed the bespoke P Zero tires with Elect technology to handle the vehicle’s instantaneous torque, the additional weight of its batteries and other EV-specific characteristics.

The Pirelli tire is distinguishable by specific markings on the sidewall, and its Elect logo indicates that the tire’s structure has been reinforced to support the extra weight of the vehicle and to ensure a high level of performance when required.

The tire maker has also designed and used a high-grip compound to deliver excellent grip and precise handling. A star on the sidewall denotes that the tire is bespoke BMW original equipment.
