Continental is supplying tires for the new Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV. The EcoContact 7 S and EcoContact 7 have been approved as original equipment in sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches. For seasonal use, Volkswagen also recommends the WinterContact TS 870 P for winter conditions and the AllSeasonContact 2 as an all-season option.
The EcoContact 7 summer tire uses a specialized rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology to improve energy efficiency. Materials in the carcass, inner layer and sidewall are designed to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance. An aerodynamically optimized sidewall, including a golf ball-inspired ‘aerodimple’ pattern, helps reduce air turbulence behind the tire, which can further decrease energy use.
The tire features a Silent Pattern tread design to reduce rolling noise. The spacing and angles of the tread blocks have been optimized to address noise frequencies typically produced at lower urban driving speeds, resulting in reduced cabin and external noise for drivers, passengers and nearby pedestrians.
The EcoContact 7, designed for energy efficiency, is approved for the T-Roc in 16-, 17- and 18-inch sizes. The sportier EcoContact 7 S is available in 16-, 17- and 19-inch sizes.
Volkswagen recommends the WinterContact TS 870 P for winter driving. Its tread design and innovative sipe structure provide reliable grip on snow and ice. The rubber compound remains flexible even at low temperatures, enabling short braking distances and safe handling in wet, cold and snowy conditions.
