Rubber mixing specialist HF Mixing Group has announced a shake-up of its management structure with CEO Mark Meulbroek now supported by Ian Wilson as co-CEO, with the latter focusing on external strategic aspects of the company’s operations. In his new role Wilson will concentrate on the areas of sales, aftersales, R&D and engineering.

The group’s sales operation will remain centralized and be led by Peter Scholz as head of group Sales, the position formerly occupied by Wilson.

Furthermore, the group is to form four strategic business units with clearly defined product lines, a lean management structure and a comprehensive global services organization.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has launched the new Tread Wisely mobile phone app, developed in partnership with the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS).

Designed to promote tire and vehicle safety among teens and young adults, it features how-to videos and a number of other unique features.

The Tread Wisely app is free and available to download from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Goodyear has introduced the eCasing Mobile app as part of its retreading management system. This will enable all users to access the system from their mobile devices more conveniently and quickly to ensure greater efficiency in the commercial vehicle tire retreading chain.

eCasing is used across Europe, not only by Goodyear, its retreading partners and dealers, but also by truck, bus and coach fleets. The app is available free of charge and is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. It is a further enhancement of Goodyear’s eBusiness B2B platform myway, offering users greater visibility, traceability and more up-to-date information both online and on mobile devices.

Mitas has introduced a new mobile tire pressure app for Android, iOS, and Windows phones. The facility will enable farmers to easily find the right pressure for their tires to achieve the best results in the field and on the road.

Users can simply select the size they are using, the set up speed and cargo weight, and the right tire pressure is immediately displayed on the screen of their phone.

Pavel Kott, product manager for Mitas agricultural tires, said, “Mitas is aware of the importance of the correct tire pressure settings for agricultural work. Tires with the right pressure not only cause less damage to the soil through compaction but also provide better traction and lower slippage, and positively influence fuel consumption.”

The user-friendly interface of the new app enables farmers to quickly choose their tires from a list of available sizes and tread patterns.

Farmers across Europe have given positive feedback on Firestone’s smartphone tire-pressure calculator app.

There have been more than 43,000 downloads of the Firestone app since it launched in 2011, with almost 21,000 to iPhones and other iOS Apple devices, and over 22,000 to Android smartphones.

Firestone now expects this enthusiasm to grow even faster with the inclusion of pressure data for the new Firestone Maxi Traction 65 tire. This rubber is said to offer a long tread life and lower operating costs for medium-sized tractors.

Mark Sanders, general manager, agricultural tire sales Europe, Bridgestone Europe, said, “Instead of having to refer to tire manufacturers’ data books – which are rarely to hand when you need them – the Firestone app gives the correct pressure for tire size, load and tractor speed in a flash.”
