Pirelli has expanded its gravel tire range with the launch of the new Cinturato Gravel RH and Cinturato Gravel RM, manufactured at the company’s Milan-Bollate facility using FSC-certified natural rubber.

The R denotes their race-oriented focus, while H (Hard) and M (Mixed) indicate the terrain conditions each model is optimized for, in line with the nomenclature already established across Pirelli’s off-road range.

The Cinturato Gravel RH and RM continue the evolution of Pirelli’s gravel range, combining performance, control and reliability through expertise gained in motorsport and cross-country mountain biking. Both models form part of Pirelli’s premium High-Performance Line (HP-Line), which is designed and manufactured in Italy.

Hankook Tire has hosted a kick-off event for the ‘Development of Tire Manufacturing Technologies Using Sustainable Materials’ project carried out out as part of South Korea’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE)’s 2026 Environmental Technology Development Program.

The initiative seeks to accelerate Korea’s circular economy by securing high-quality recycled raw materials from end-of-life tires and advancing their commercialization in tire manufacturing. It consists of two key workstreams: the development of technologies for producing premium recycled feedstock from waste tires; and the establishment of tire manufacturing technologies using sustainable materials.

Participation in the national project expands existing private-sector research into a broader collaborative ecosystem involving industry, academia and research institutions.

With sustainability becoming an increasingly important focus for the tire industry, manufacturers are exploring ways to improve circularity across the sector. In response, the ISCC Plus pilot project aims to develop industrial ecosystems that recover and process waste materials for reintegration into tire manufacturing, supporting more sustainable production across the supply chain.

Pirelli has announced that it has actively supported and participated in the ISCC Plus pilot to add recycled steel to the ISCC Plus materials list, working alongside Xingda, a strategic supplier and manufacturer of rubber reinforcement materials.

As part of the initiative, Pirelli contributed to the development of technical requirements and sustainability guidelines, supporting Xingda and its upstream suppliers throughout the ISCC Plus certification process.

Chemicals company Orion has announced it is producing circular carbon black at its ISCC Plus-certified plant in the Chinese eastern coastal city of Qingdao.

The facility is making three grades of circular carbon black, Ecorax Circular 200, 210 and 215, from tire pyrolysis oil (TPO). Ecorax 200 is a hard black suitable for tires, while the 210 and 215 grades can be used for tires and mechanical rubber goods (MRG).

“This new capability in China marks a key step in offering circular carbon black grades globally,” said Orion CEO Corning Painter. “The product line extension gives us greater flexibility to meet growing demand for circular products, while maintaining the performance, consistency and quality our customers expect.”

Last year, Orion scaled up its circular capabilities in Europe, launching large volume production of Ecorax Circular 200 and 210 – both made from TPO – through a commercial reactor in Jasło, Poland.

Goodyear is to supply advanced lunar tires for the NASA Artemis program’s Lunar Outpost Pegasus Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), which is expected to support astronaut missions on the moon beginning in 2028.

Designed for operations at the lunar South Pole, Pegasus will enable astronauts to travel farther, operate longer and unlock new scientific exploration capabilities in one of the harshest environments known. Goodyear’s lunar tires are built to meet this challenge – engineered to withstand extreme temperature swings, rocky surfaces and low-gravity conditions while helping astronauts move safely and confidently across the lunar surface. Bridgestone has launched an underground mining tire range that it says has been designed to “thrive in some of the harshest working conditions on earth.”

The company’s latest VMNT, VMDL and VMMS tire products have been engineered specifically for underground mining applications, and have been designed to reduce penetrations by enveloping rocks rather than allow them to cut into the rubber, while still maintaining grip and operator comfort. The result is enhanced protection against damage in environments where standing water and moisture can make already abrasive surfaces even more destructive.

All three tires feature the first application of Bridgestone’s Subterranean technology for underground trucks, enabling operators to carry heavier loads without increasing inflation pressure, while also reducing the risk of cuts, penetrations and costly downtime.

Nexen Tire has announced that it is has been selected to supply OE tires for the all-new Kia Seltos in North America and Europe, having previously supplied the N’Priz S and N’Fera AU7 for the Korean market in March.

For North America, the N’Priz S will be supplied in a 16in fitment in the United States and Canada. Compatible with electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles, the N’Priz S delivers excellent mileage performance and a quiet, comfortable ride.

For European markets including Germany, France and the Netherlands, summer tires will be supplied across multiple fitments. The N’ Fera Primus will be fitted in 16in and 18in specifications and the N’ Fera Sport in 19in-inch specifications.

Continental has inaugurated the €300m (Bt13bn/US$350m) expansion of its tire plant in Rayong, Thailand, with the upgrades intended to boost the facility’s production capacity by an additional three million passenger car and light truck tires per year.

The event also marked the start of local production of radial motorcycle tires at Rayong.

“Our Rayong tire plant is a vital pillar of our global production network,” said Continental CEO Christian Kötz. “With this expansion, we are further strengthening our footprint in Asia-Pacific to deliver locally produced premium car and motorcycle tires to our customers. This investment underlines the strategic importance of Thailand and the APAC region for Continental.”

“Asia-Pacific is a dynamic, fast-growing region and a key driver of our long-term growth plan,” added Dalibor Kalina, head of Continental’s tire business in the APAC region.
