<p>This collaboration marks the first time in India that a tire manufacturer and a technical institute have come together to integrate tire science, design and manufacturing into an engineering curriculum. Apollo Tyres will play a key role in shaping academic content for the course, and will assist the institute in developing the syllabus, preparing study material and ensuring the curriculum reflects the latest technological advances and industry needs.</p>
<p>“This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Indian automotive sector,” said R Mahalakshmi, chief human resources officer at Apollo Tyres.</p>

<p>This is the second time both parties have held the event, with the first seminar taking place in 2020. Fifty farmers from the Surat Thani province took part; each was gifted 250kg of fertilizer developed using RAOT’s specialist knowledge.</p>
<p>Having signed a memorandum of understanding in January 2020, both companies aim to provide economic support and improve traceability and transparency within the natural-rubber supply chain.</p>
<p>The event was the latest action to take place under the MoU.</p>

The conference will see 27 original works on tire technology, presented by the authors, in addition to a Special Topic Paper on the 40+ year history of The Tire Society as well as a keynote address, plenary address, invited lecture and panel discussion.</p>
<p>Presenters will be answering questions live, and, due to its virtual nature, the conference will be held over five days, from September 28 through October 2, in the morning hours Eastern Time, facilitating global attendance.</p>

The material is geared toward the non-tire engineer or the entry-level engineer, however, the program also offers experienced tire engineers an opportunity to learn, too. Individuals who need a general knowledge of tire design, construction, materials and performance are invited to attend as well. </p>
<p class="p1">All of the speakers are professionals in fields including engineering, chemistry, engineering mechanics and vehicle dynamics.</p>

<p>TIP&#8217;s recent work, built on past findings and emerging issues, has focused in several key areas. Tire and road wear particles (TRWP) continued to be studied in various environments, including air, water and sediment. Based on a comprehensive risk assessment, the studies demonstrated that TRWP are considered safe for human health and the environment, supporting earlier research results.</p>
<p>TIP published a report on end-of-life tires (ELT), which included management methods, recovery routes, recovery rates in 51 countries (approximately 89% of the world&#8217;s vehicles), and presented several new beneficial uses of ELT.</p>

This involved a five-day demonstration and a visit to the Marangoni Retreading Systems plant in Ferentino where the company manufactures pre-cured materials for cold retreading (treads and Ringtreads).</p>
<p>The trip, from October 3-7, proved a great opportunity. Experts were able to visit the customers serviced under the Fleet Advantage program several times, helping them to gain a much greater knowledge of how the services are provided.</p>

<p>Ringtread Blackline, the ultra-performance range in Marangoni&#8217;s tread rings, was prominently featured during the event, which was focused on showcasing and proving – with data at hand – the potential cost savings associated with retreaded tires, particularly for haulage fleets that choose to use low-cost Asian tires.</p>
<p>In fact, in terms of cost per kilometer, a retreaded tire made with a quality casing and a Blackline tread ring can enable savings up to 57% compared to a low-cost tire from Asia.</p>

Do It.&#8217; program, Cooper Tire will connect with more than 10,000 students – primarily eighth graders – for Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) events throughout October.</p>
<p>Cooper will focus on the communities where the company has major facilities – Findlay, Ohio; Texarkana, Arkansas; and Tupelo, Mississippi. The tire maker will also host its own Cooper Manufacturing Experience events.</p>
<p>&#8220;Manufacturing is technology-driven, fast paced and offers exciting career opportunities, but it can be challenging to attract employees. Many students today are not focused on careers in manufacturing and, unfortunately, great jobs go unfilled,&#8221; said John Bollman, Cooper&#8217;s senior VP and chief human resources officer.</p>

<p>The proposal lays out actions that can be taken to provide young learners with a solid opportunity to develop the transversal and soft skills that are fostered through entrepreneurial education. It further recommends the permanent establishment of a pan-European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning.</p>
<p>Reflecting on Bridgestone&#8217;s contribution to the project, Martha White, VP for human resources and CSR, said, &#8220;Bridgestone EMEA is committed to supporting the goals of the Pact for Youth and we have demonstrated this through sponsorship of nearly 200 apprenticeships and internships.</p>

<p>Head researcher Dr Joydeep Banerjee explained, &#8220;The volumetric tire model developed in MapleSim offers two distinct advantages over existing tire models. As the moments are calculated using kinematic data only, the model can be easily programmed for numerical simulations. In addition, the resistive torques are evaluated as functions of both normal load and angular speed of the wheel.&#8221;</p>
<p>Using Maple, Maplesoft&#8217;s advanced computation engine, the symbolic expressions for the normal force and rolling resistance were derived as a function of the position and orientation of the tire.</p>
